It has been reported that 3 will launch a number of 24-month deals at the beginning of next month and the level of interest is expected to be high. The new deals will be set at £30, £35 and £40 inclusive of 5GB of data access. The offer of a new Hewlett Packard laptop is hoped to encourage customers to sign up to the two year deal and three different models will be available including the Pavilion DV6000 and the mobile broadband modem will come as standard.

There have also been rumours that Orange and Vodafone will be following a similar scheme in the very near future with Vodafone confirming that they will be taking on a stock of laptops within the next six weeks.

The future certainly looks rosy for both mobile broadband operators and customers alike as increased availability and productive competition sparks plenty of interest amongst consumers and sales defy the UK’s economic slump.

Recently, research firm Tariff Consultancy Ltd spoke out at the third Mobile Pricing Symposium at Cambridge predicting the future trend of the mobile broadband industry. During their speech it was suggested that the price for mobile broadband tariffs will continue to fall as companies desperately vouch for subscribers. This is estimated to continue until mobile broadband operators each find a niche that distinguishes themselves against their competitors.

“Laptop and USB dongle bundles are certainly an excellent incentive to sign up a mobile broadband package but as the term for these offers are generally longer than average, at around two years it’s very important to be absolutely sure that you can afford this.
